Belinda Barnes

School Bus Driver & Watercolor Artist

Welcome to my corner of the web. I'm Belinda Barnes, a veteran school bus driver from Warren, Michigan, with over thirty years of experience navigating the roads of Macomb County. When I'm not behind the wheel, you'll find me with a paintbrush in hand, creating abstract watercolors, or lost in the pages of speculative fiction.

My World

For over three decades, I've been responsible for the safe transport of children to and from school. My meticulous approach to safety and route planning is legendary among my colleagues. But there's more to me than just driving routes and checking mirrors.

My evenings are dedicated to my artistic pursuits - sketching, painting abstract watercolors, and experimenting with different techniques. I also maintain a sourdough starter that's become a beloved member of my household.

Creative Outlets

Watercolor painting allows me to express the imaginative side that complements my structured professional life. I'm particularly drawn to abstract compositions that evoke emotions and landscapes without being literal representations.

Jazz music provides the soundtrack to my creative process. There's something about the improvisational nature of jazz that resonates with both my driving routes and my painting style.

Connecting Worlds

I see interesting parallels between my two main pursuits - driving and painting. Both require careful planning, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions. A sudden rainstorm on the roads is not unlike an unexpected bleed in a watercolor painting.

This website will serve as a place to share my experiences, insights, and creative works. I hope to create a space that reflects the unique blend of structure and creativity that defines my life.
